It has been quite awhile since I began my blog, and now I hope to make true to my word of posting each week.
This week's topic....government!!!! Hooray...can you sense my sarcasm? As I have been watching the news here lately about health care reform and the debate between the Dems. and Reps. I can't help but wonder to myself, am I really watching our so called leaders make decisions for the betterment of our country or am I being subjected to a silly nursery schoolyard squabble. Is Ashton going to jump out and tell me I'm being punked? I just don't know what to think...I'm so confused!!!!!! AAAAAAA!!!!!!!
Example, I was watching the oh so intriguing channel C-Span the night before the historic health care vote. I happened to tune into a debate about that very topic and the rules the House was going to need to live by whilst trying to pass or not pass this bill. For the hour or so that I watched all I heard was yelling back and forth about what was right and what was wrong. It was tactless, completely and utterly tactless. In fact it was so obscene, that when the Chairwoman of the debate called for order, the disrespect she was shown by being ignored was overwhelming. She had to ask multiple times for order and there was still this one Senator that refused to shut the hell up! Honestly, he was beginning to make fingernails on a chalkboard sound sexy. Like I stated in the Welcome message, I understand that this is a free country and we have the right to free speech, but what about respect and dignity. Is there any left in the silly little world of D.C.? I am beginning to think there is not!
This one example has become the norm up there on "the hill." And quite frankly, it's getting old. No, no, let me rephrase that...it's gotten old...a long time ago. Why is it that we Americans continue to let the old men on the hill represent us in the shameful manner they have sunken to here in recent years? I am only 28, and I know the governments before my time had their issues, but it just seems to me that there is more fighting and disrespect going on in Washington as of late. It drives me crazy to hear the Republicans say they are going to try and squash EVERY piece of legislation, whether they believe in it or not, that comes from the Democratic side, just to get back at them for passing the health care bill. There are some points in the bill I am happy about and some I am not so happy about, but nothing in this life is perfect and I think this is where the quarrel comes from. It seems both sides want this perfect health care plan and in reality that will never happen. There will always be at least one person that likes or dislikes some point being made. Republicans and Democrats alike need to get over that!
To be completely honest, I wish the old farts up there in Washington would all just grow a pair, and GASP.....work together to better this country instead of dragging it down (yes, despite their differences of opinon), and act like men, not 6 year olds fighting on the schoolyard. We elect these people to be our voice and make America the best country it can be, but lately all I hear is vendictive, whiny, pointing finger little bitches that would rather fight amongst themselves, instead of listening to the people that gave them their goddamn jobs....US, the American people!!!!!!! They need to quit worrying about what's going to happen in November for fuck sake. That seems to be another thing I keep hearing, "oh God, what will become of me come November if I do or don't do this *insert task here*..." Do your job now, and maybe you'll still have a job in November, because to tell you the truth, I won't vote for anyone that voted a certain way on legislation, just because they were worried about elections in the fall! SERIOUSLY guys...come on, get your shit together and pull us out of this deep chasm you have dug the United States into!
